WordPress Google Authenticator Plugin:-

Let me say you How this plugin is going to work on your site:

When you want to login into your WordPress admin dashboard you will receive  a randomly generated code on your registered mobile from the Google authenticate Plugin. You must enter the revived code on your login page in order to get the access to your WordPress dashboard.

Note that the code you receives on your mobile will change for every login. You can activate the plugin by going to the Users menu in your WordPress admin dashboard. And you can also enable the relaxed mode in Google authenticator plugin. This mode will extend some time than the normal time before the code sent expires to enter the code received on your mobile.

  1. You have explained very well . Basically I am a blogger.com type blogger but recently I have started a new blog on wordpress platform . Well , this experience is full of fun . There is no headache of coding . I am really happy . Your post will be helpful for my blog’s security .

  2. I am a newbie. I find this article helpful because of the the way you have put things. Simple and easily understandable. It sure will help someone who is new to the blog world ( like me ). Thanks Saikrishna

  3. Very thorough tutorial. I read about double authentication over on Matt’s blog (founder of WordPress). I currently use a password manager and change passwords regularly but this is certainly on my to-do list.

    • Yes Lorenzo , It’s quite different way of approach and having a double authentication is far better. Even the hacker can’t get access to the site after he broke the wp-login.php 🙂
      Thanks for dropping your comment.

  4. Very good but it’s not available for Nigerians. That’s too bad. At least hackers can’t beat this!!!

    • I will look into this, If there is any other possiblities to help you regarding the non-availability this service.
Thanks for letting us know Agu 🙂

  5. Hi Sai,

I was working on a friends site for her and had to log into her gmail and this is the process it took me through. Now back at the time I was doing this I didn’t have texting so there wasn’t any way I was going to authenticate this through my cell. I can see the reason behind it though but I use very strong passwords on all my accounts and I can’t remember them for the life of me. I have yet another program that helps me with that.

Any way we can protect ourselves further from hackers is the step we should take so thanks for sharing this with us and I definitely have to agree with you on this one.

    • Yes Adrienne, Double Authentication is an another security layer to help yourselve from the hackers. More over this service is directly provided from your Google account so we can know how secured the login will be. Google also provide you some backup codes to print on any paper, this is because when your unable to access your mobile we can go through this backup codes entering whenever code/pass asked. They also provided Google Authenticator for Android users so they never require to request a new code always, a temporary code will be generated which will last for 20-60 seconds. In that given time you can use the code to login.
Glad it’s useful for you Adrienne and thanks for dropping your valuable comment.
Enjoy your first visit on my site.
      Thank you.

  6. Thank you Sai Krishna for sharing this info. It is quite informative and useful. I’ll be going to download the plugin now. I would like to recommend this post to my friends. 🙂
