Will Laptops get Obsolete due to Tablets?

It was a gift from science when first generation computer was invented. With the years growing on, different generations of computers came into invention maintaining its dominance in workplaces. Slowly, the computers started to become a must have for household activities too. The growing need of personal computer was felt and started to rule the world of technology.

It is not so long that laptops replaced the use of personal computers due to its usability, portability and performance. It was a revolution in the computer world that allowed the users to carry it anywhere needed.

Laptops

People contemplated if the tower computer will be outdated and replaced but they are still around but are available in different shapes and sizes. But now there is the emergence of tablets and this emergence did not much time like that of Laptops replacing PCs. The rate of replacement has produced speculation that the tablets will replace Laptops very soon. The question is ‘will Laptops get obsolete due to tablets.’

There have been much technological advancements in shorter period of time. In comparison to the advancement from the personal computer to laptops, the advancement from the laptops to tablets is shorter. According to a recent survey conducted by Poll Position, 46 % among 1,255 responded believed that the tablets will make laptops obsolete whereas, 35% respondents did not believe so and the rest 19 % had no opinion regarding the same.

The poll concluded that the innovative tablets like PlayBook and Blackberry would replace the laptop in the nearer future. The respondents also explained the reasons behind their opinions and majority of them believed that such tablets offers dissimilar options and features enable them to play and work with it simultaneously. They also believed that the capabilities of such tablets are highly competing to those of laptops. The additional features like Bluetooth, WI-Fi and GPS on the tablet are strongest features that have made them believe in their contemplation. The respondents believe that the connecting features like HDMI, a micro USB connector and a magnetic charging port, 8 hour battery life in the tablets have stood to be competent in the competition enough to make the laptops obsolete.

The tablets are light weighted and compact making the user to use it easily along with the features and processing speed like that of laptops. Flipping these features, laptops have been found more users friendly as well. Taking for an example, when someone is at the 11th hour to complete his/her assignment, it would be difficult to work on a tablet in comparison to a laptop. The additional devices like keyboards and mouse that have good connectivity with laptops does not have the same quality with tablets. Similarly, architects and draftsmen would face difficulties to work in their software like AutoCad and SketchUp with tablets but with laptops, they would do this with ease.

For this time, we can believe that tablets have not replaced the laptop but have offered additional features with the great usability on their own positions. We cannot be sure who will make who obsolete but be certain that both of them are vital for our life.

Have a Great Day Readers, thank you.
